Bio

I recently relocated to Iowa City from Chicago where I spent the past 25 years serving families as a childbirth educator, doula and, more recently, a Certified Professional Midwife. I'm also a registered nurse and certified lactation specialist. In addition to engaging in doula work and providing DONA approved birth doula trainings, I work as a consultant for Start Early, a funder of community-based doula programs in Illinois. I have also been engaged in policy work for a number of years, most recently sitting on a State Senate committee examining the home birth provider shortage in Illinois and helping final passage of CPM licensure in late 2021. In my 'spare time' I work as a mother-baby nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  I have three daughters and one granddaughter. I feel a strong calling to serve my community and empower doulas, childbearing individuals and their families.
