Louise Albrecht-Mallinger’s journey helping people have better birth experiences began with the support she received during her own pregnancy and labor. Wanting to provide this support to others, she attended a workshop taught by Penny Simkin and became DONA International certified Birth Doula #50. Louise has taught DONA International-certified Birth Doula workshops for the past 21 years. She co-founded and manages a hospital-based volunteer Doula program in Crown Point, Indiana. Having supported the births of over 1,500 babies, Louise continues to serve new and repeat clients, and she has the exceptional privilege of supporting the children of former clients who are now having children of their own. In addition, Louise seeks out the opportunity to help women who have especially challenging circumstances, and to find ways to extend training to community-based Doulas programs.
