Bio

I am Christine Cleary, I started my doula journey long before I knew the word doula, I found that I had an innate understanding of birth and parenting. I was a doula in my heart from the time I was a candy striper in military hospitals.  When I found DONA, I have been navigating the ever changing dynamics of birth and parenting. I was grateful to be be able to connect with others that shared my passion and calling. I am a certified birth doula as well as a birth doula trainer through DONA  International.  I am the founder of Birth Matters which I opened in 2008.  I have been a parenting, childbirth and breastfeeding educator for 30 years and have had the incredible honor of attending somewhere between 1300-1400 births. I am currently living in Monrovia California and offer my classes and trainings in a virtual format. As a proud doula trainer with DONA International for the last 14 years, it has been my great honor to attend around 1300-1400 births. I have been a parenting, childbirth and breastfeeding educator, public speaker for 30 years, working with families all over the country. I have been a fierce advocate for birthing people of color, LGBTQIA, trans doulas, other abled people and the young.

I invite you to reach out to me for questions, collaborations or speaking engagements.

I opened Birth Matters in 2008 and have now moved my classes and trainings to virtual, which thankfully removes so many barriers for families and doulas to attend from anywhere!
