Purpose:
To uphold the mission and vision of DONA International. The Global Development Committee will explore areas that will increase inclusivity, ownership, and belonging within the International community while adapting to the needs of each individual area in terms of accessibility and cultural implications.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Reviewing policies and procedures that impact the success of doulas in international markets, and making formal recommendations to the director for consideration. This could include, but is not limited to:
Reviewing training materials, certification packets, suggested continuing education opportunities, suggested reading materials, marketing materials, other forms of communication, advocacy toolkits, etc.
Educational, certification, and membership policies and practices from an international perspective, making recommendations for improvement for the international membership base.
Bringing forward recommendations and ideas for improvement of training, certifying, and the practice of doulas in international markets to the overseeing director, who may choose to bring an item to the board for discussion
This may include sourcing international trainers by region and facilitating peer learning (quarterly gatherings)
Executing tasks as approved by the board and director, and approved in the annual goals
Providing feedback as requested by DONA leadership or staff
Collaborating with DONA International departments to improve systems for the global doula community.
Building awareness of DONA internationally, including materials to help doulas introduce themselves to hospitals/communities

Purpose of Job:
To uphold the mission and vision of DONA International, to promote and represent DONA International to the international membership base and world at large, to ensure a thriving, engaged international doula community. To act as a liaison between the Director of Global Development and Committee Members. To grow leadership skills within and outside of DONA International.
Structure
There will be two co-chairs on the Global Development Committee.
Engage with the DONA International global members
Encourage and lead committee members in engaging with international members on DONA Connect
Facilitate discussions on DONA Connect to promote connection among international members, and provide information about the organization or doula issues
Consult with the Director as a Moderator on DONA Connect
Work closely with the Global Director to keep leaders informed about what is happening in their committee
Inform DONA leadership about area events and the needs, concerns, and successes of DONA members and childbearing people within the DONA International global membership.
Provide volunteer and member spotlights to the Director of Global Development
Inform the Director of Global Development of concerns, needs or policy change suggestions that should be brought to the Board for consideration for DONA International’s global doula community.
Inform the Director of Global Development of concerns or events related to the practice of DONA International global doulas that should be shared with the entire membership base and/or Board of Directors.
Curate educational opportunities for the international doula community consisting of original content and/or existing resources
Lead and/or assist in developing new programs and opportunities for the international doula community.
Participate in monthly committee meetings with the Global Director, other Chairpersons, Committee Members, and special guests to update committee-specific activities and generate ideas for their committee
Appointment as Chairperson may be up for review should you miss three (3) consecutive meetings
Keep detailed meeting notes to be shared with committee members and Board of Directors
Rotate leading monthly meetings with the Director of Global Development.
Contribute to semi-annual reports on committee activities
Hold committee accountable for completing stated annual goals by providing guidance and leadership to committee members
Generate ideas for programs that are relevant to the specific committee
Work collaboratively with other Chairpersons and the Global Development Director on high-level, interdisciplinary projects
Respond to e-mails regarding Chairperson position within 48 hours
Promote DONA International when attending conferences of other organizations interested in childbearing issues
Submit articles or information to the International Doula
