Bio

My name is Lucia Oviedo. I am a spouse, daughter, sister and friend. I was born in Mexico and moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 2021.

Since early 2015 I teach Lamaze classes, help expectant parents to be prepared for childbirth, and provide emotional support during labor. I had the opportunity of starting my own childbirth education center in Guadalajara, Mexico; and had an offer, one year later, of co-founding another one in Aguascalientes, Mexico, with a talented OB/GYN.

I lived in Aguascalientes for 2 years, in which I taught expectant parent and was able to guide and accompany them throughout their pregnancy and childbirth. By teaming up with several doctors, I understood how, influenced by their own particular personality, each one sees and does things in their own way, which makes them feel comfortable with different scenarios. Therefore, accompanying and empowering mothers during the entire process, for them to plan and enjoy their own experience.

It´s important to understand that there is no such thing as a correct or incorrect way to give birth; but rather women and families with their own personal story, preferences, likes and dreams. It is true that there are certain practices that make childbirth safer and healthier, but the absolute perfect experience, is the one each woman creates for herself.

I got my Psychology degree at ITESO University in Mexico and did my Master´s degree in Prenatal Education and Childbirth Support at Anahuac University in Mexico. I am also a certified Childbirth Educator by Lamaze International, a certified Birth Doula by Dona International since 2014 and a certified Lactation Consultant by Edulacta since 2018.
