I have worked in Maternal and Child health for most of may career at Florida Department of Health Healthy Start Program.The tenure of my career was with the Healthy Start Program has been that of serving pregnant women and children with the goal of reducing poor pregnancy outcomes and reducing infant mortality. In January 2026 I embarked on my goal of obtaining my Doula Certification through DONA International. I have felt the need for my services as a doula in the rural areas that I live and work would be impactful. So far I have provided Doula service for six births and each birthing mother has had positive outcomes and they remember their birth story as that of having accomplished their goals for their own births plans. That is very encouraging and motivates me even the more to continue this birth work as a Doula. All of the medical care team that I have worked with all have commented that my presence in labor and delivery as the birthing persons doula is calming and needful.
